Within societies throughout the world, social structures, expectations, and norms play an immense role in regards to who relates to whom, and how people treat one another. My artwork tends to revolve around these basic observations as I experience or view them. I am interested in portraying the more awkward and superficial side of human relations which has an impact on people’s everyday lives. I intend for my sculptures to allow the viewer to see things in a new perspective while bringing attention to the often veiled social tendencies of our society. I hope to depict certain social exchanges or ideologies within my pieces and I search for a sense of forced interaction between the work and the viewers. My figures are rough and imperfect, as the hope for perfection ties in to one of the most standard of social expectations. With the nondescript nature of these forms, I can move beyond assumed generalities such as style, race, or creed, and into the core of social interactions.
